The Belgian Malinois is a very intelligent, lively breed who excels in an active family environment. They are a medium to large sized dog, which can come in all shades of red, fawn, and gray, but always with a black face and ears. Male Malinois average around 24”-26” tall and 65-85 pounds, while females tend to be smaller at 22”-24” tall and 60-70 pounds. Due to their history as a working dog (i.e. being bred for function over form) the Malinois can vary greatly in appearance. They range from stocky to slender, but are always squarely built.
